I'll Take "The Penis" for $100, Alec
Newspapers found themselves in a struggle over a photograph from the VA Tech shooting of an injured student being carried.  The concern?  Not the blood, not the clearly visible bullet hole in the poor kid's leg, but the fact that his penis can be glimpsed.  Because the sight of a penis, which presumably at least half of our population is pretty familiar with (at a minimum), is much more upsetting/traumatic/censor-worthy.  Welcome to Bizarro World.

Ditto that! Good grief, Charlie Brown, are we still so stuck in the 50s that we ogle his Johnson as the guy bleeds from being shot in the worst shooting spree in our history?

I'm going to offer a dissenting opinion here.

First of all, from what I read, what's sticking up in the photo is part of a tourniquet and not a penis.

Second, I will grant you that America is overly puritanical. However, if I was the victim of a violent crime that caused me great injury and possibly years of posttraumatic stress syndrome, and also left me with a wardrobe malfunction, I know I would not appreciate having the picture splashed globally across the wire services and internet. I think it would be an additional victimization.
