I Like Podcasts

I set up this site to experiment with. If you listen to a lot of podcasts and think you'd like to post notes or reviews about stuff you've listened to, drop me a line at catrambo@ilikepodcasts.com   Or if you do podcasts and would like to see them reviewed or mentioned, send the note there as well.

To the superhero writers - yes, that project is getting set up next, I need to stop dinking around with it. ;)

Laser Thumbs of Death

The move back to a mostly-Mac (with one Windows XP machine and a Linux one) household has been fraught with peril so far. Right now I've got the Vista laptop cracked out again and used it this morning to record Margaret Ronald's "When the Gentlemen Go By' for Clarkesworld here (http://clarkesworldmagazine.com/)  The Mac will go to the Home for Wayward Macs sometime in the next couple of days and hopefully get a new video card.

I am halfway through John Crowley's The Solitudes, first of four for ReaderCon. We'll see if I get all the way through the four book cycle or not.

Other projects in the works: a game module, an essay on superhero fiction, two interviews, prepping for Tuesday's reading and Wednesday's class, more poking at things other than the novel, six stories, a YA proposal, and several pair-up projects.

Szpaszpas Szpissmas

http://writers-strike.blogspot.com/ covers the Writers' Guild strike. Scroll down to the Ask a Ninja entry for valuable advice on striking!

What I'm working on this month and into December:
  • The novel. Today I wrestle chapter five into submission and move on to chapter six.
  • Six essays on scandals for a modern scandals encyclopedia, including Dave Beck, Elijah Muhammed, Nancy Wakeman, Anne Gorsuch, Bess Myerson and Leonoa Helmsley.
  • A couple of tech columns.
  • A novelette sized collaboration for the ESCAPIST'S fiction issue.
  • Finishing up teaching the F&SF class. Tomorrow we talk about revision and rewriting. I usually prepare 1500-2000 words worth of lectures for those classes, which includes exercises. I also try to put together a handout for folks.
  • Reading for FANTASY. So far I mark one out of every eight or so manuscripts for Sean's consideration. I have read about 80-90 so far.
  • Getting stories circulating -- I have a passel of them that are just sitting them and should be doing something.
  • Promoting THE SURGEON'S TALE.
