Fall Teaching

For those who are interested, I'll be teaching a Continuing Studies class on writing F&SF this fall. I'm -really- looking forward to it -- I've been missing teaching and Continuing Studies means no grades, which is the only part of teaching I really dislike. We'll be covering a variety of topics, including plotting, character development, effective dialog, critiquing, the revision process, submitting to magazines, etc.

If you've been looking for something like this, and have Wednesday evenings free, I invite you to join me.

Writing Fantasy and Science Fiction

In this moderated workshop format, you will learn and practice writing techniques in the popular field of science fiction and fantasy. Learn how to give and accept constructive critiques, and explore publishing possibilities with Cat Rambo, science fiction and fantasy writer. Beginners and experienced writers are welcome.

The apartment downstairs is being renovated, so there's a lot of sawing and hammering going on.
AND they are working on getting this building ready for painting, so I have one person moving furniture around on the front landing and hammering and another on the other side of the building doing mysterious things that seem to be filling the place with paint smell. Earlier I had a young man working on the study window by my elbow and peering in at me while I worked -- since then I've retreated to the living room.
AND the downstairs apartment across the way is also doing construction, and has been since Sunday.
AND one group of workers, I'm not sure which, is listening to truly craptastic pop music at a very loud volume.

I realize Progress Must Be Made, but does it have to be while I'm trying to write? I'm giving up for now and spending my time comforting the terrified cats.

On the bright side, I've got a good hair cut.
