The Mind Boggles

From a New York Times article about the Iowa primary:

About a third of Republicans interviewed before they cast their votes cited illegal immigration as the most important issue facing the country, followed by the economy and terrorism.

A third of Republicans find illegal immigration more important than people dying in a war. Than an educational system that is being used to widen class divisions. Than poverty. Than global warming. Than eroding civil liberties. Than a widening trade deficit. Than a government that lies and condones torture - while lying more about it.

I don't know what's so scary for them. Maybe it's brown people for the white ones. Maybe it's the thought that someone might benefit from the social system before the Republicans finish destroying it. Maybe they just believe everything the "liberal" media stuffs in their daily feeding tube.

I do not understand why anyone who is not in the upper class supports the Republican party. I do understand that the upper class has a lot to lose if the rest of the folks would wise up and smell the class warfare.

Slush Update

I am through the slush up to 12/24. There are two stories that I'm hanging onto to discuss with Sean.  If you haven't heard from me and you sent something before that date, feel free to drop a query about it to fantasysubmissions AT gmail. I did rescue several stories from the spam filter, but have replied to those as well.
