Things I Tweeted Today

Today I used my bandwidth to say:

  • 09:58 Writing the intro for our Fantasy Magazine sampler + participating in a roundtable on fantasy today. So: why do -you- read it? #
  • 15:42 90% sure this bus is going where I need to be. The 10% is what makes life interesting. #

I know this is going to make me sound like a sociological mutant, but here it goes.

I don't give a hoot about the Olympics. I don't care whether or not the US gets any gold medals, or whether the guy from Seattle does well, or the returning champion from another country does this or that and gets assigned a particular set of numbers. I used to track them more closely back when I ate a lot of McDonalds and they ran their contests.

I don't give a hoot about sports in general. I will watch them when circumstances dictate (Wayne likes the Olympics, so we've got skiing on right now), but generally they seem incredibly pointless to me. I do like watching baseball in a stadium, but that's because I get caught up in the enthusiasm, generally, and because Bang the Drum Slowly is one of my alltime favorite books.

I don't think people that watch them are (insert negative term of your choice) or anything, and I'm sure they enjoy it as much as I enjoy some of the things I like.

Wayne says that to hear me say all this is the equivalent of me hearing someone say they never ever considered gender and weren't aware that it affected things at all. Heh.
